About the Author
Me in Cancun, Mexico.
Ever since I was young, I have always loved writing. But for a time, I majored in Political Science. I earned associate degrees in Liberal Arts and Political Science in 2011. My interest in international relations and leadership studies has always been the driving force of my research and exploration. My interest in Asian issues, however, stems from when my father lived in Taiwan for two years. Taiwan is formally named The Republic of China: Taiwan. As my father lived there, I began to listen to his stories about the culture. I began to connect the dots back to Confucius philosophy and social hierarchy, and how many Asian countries follow this societal system. I began to see patterns in the different issues facing states in the Pacific. I became interested in China's One-Child Policy and spent a few months researching its effects on the Chinese female population. The blog about that can be found here. Later in the year, I was even more fascinated with the country known as North Korea. I had watched a few documentaries about the nation and wanted to investigate it further. I particularly wanted to focus on the new leader, since there are so many speculations around how his leadership will effect the country and international relations.
After my associate degrees, I ended up abandoning the major of Political Science to keep it as more of a hobby. My heart really lies with writing and English. I am currently a senior at Boise State University. I am majoring in English with a writing emphasis and am also working as a writing consultant at the writing center. I plan to use this education to eventually become a copywriter and editor for businesses, most likely in the field of technical communication. Down the road, it is my dream to go to graduate school and get a masters in Rhetoric and Composition. I would love to become a professor, but mainly, I want to study how rhetoric is used in the political world, both written and orally. I would love for one of my areas of focus to be women's rhetoric in the political arena.
I self-describe myself as somewhat of a hippie. I am a vegetarian, I love music, art, poetry, planet Earth, film, history, philosophy, science, the universe, and activism in internet communities. I have been with the love of my life, B, for five years. We plan on finally tying the knot after we both finish our education.
“And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.” ~Sylvia Plath
